I was a bit disturbed over vacation.  My oldest was getting sick as we left home, and sure enough, as happens every time we go away (seriously, every time), the sickness developed into this hacking, snotty, miserable cold. I was listening to him hack in his sleep, praying as I listened that a miracle would happen and he would be healed by the potent mix of Airborne and Vicks.

It was getting late, I wasn’t sleeping, but instead was getting more and more crabby, thinking about how this isn’t the way vacation is supposed to go.

I decided to go in and check on him, to make sure he wasn’t “faking it.” To get to his room, I was walking through the girls room, when I was greeted by the smiling face of our angelic 4 year old. (side note: It’s funny how sometimes they are angels, when just hours before you were sure they were possessed by the Legion, isn’t it?) I was surprised to see her awake (not sure that she really was) and was more surprised by what she said.

“Daddy! I’m so glad we’re not home and we’re here and we’re on vacation, and I’m with you!”

Perspective… it is always better than you think, isn’t it?
